Hammering Hank a Special Needs Pup

We lost our beloved Georgie the end of August and it is because of our love for Georgie that we sought another LOLIN lab. We were thrilled to think we were adopting one lab but when we visited Foster Fairy Godmother Leslie, Hammering Hank was clearly our special needs lab. He was special and we needed him. He even greeted us at the door! Hank leads a purpose driven life in walking his people and he makes us laugh. He sleeps on our couch on his back with his feet in the air. Hank was listed on LOLIN's adoption page as Hank the Wonder Dog and he indeed is a wonderful dog. Driving home from adopting Hank we saw a rainbow so we are sure that Georgie approves. We can not thank LOLIN enough for all that they do because it is their help that helps to make our family complete. Hanks loves trips in the car, marshmallows and chewies and his new family - Melissa, Sean and kitty siblings MuShoo and Sammy. We are family!

Cooper's Happy Tail

We've had Cooper (formerly Brewster) for almost 8 months now. He settled very quickly and easily into our family. It's hard to imagine this lovable guy ever had it rough. Before coming to LOLIN, he suffered a factored pelvis. Our vet has checked him out and declared him all healed. He loves to go on walks or light runs. You can see the happiness in his face as he looks back at us excitedly as we're making our trek around the neighborhood.

Our two daughters are definitely his best buddies. Cooper's favorite game is "Cooper Tag". The girls run around the yard calling him and he happily chases after them. They all have a blast.

When he's not playing with us he enjoys basking in the sun, trying to steal one of the girls' stuffed animals or chewing on one of his bones. And he still hasn't given up hope that our 9 pound cat will someday become his playmate! I mean, what's not to love?

We lost our last Lab, Millie, last fall. Her death left quite a void in our lives. Cooper has brought us so much happiness. It's hard not to smile when he rolls over to show his belly with what looks like a big goofy grin on his face!

Thanks, LOLIN, for allowing us to adopt Cooper! He is so deserving of his new life. We love him!

First Boat Ride

As promised, here is a picture of Jack (our adopted) on his first boat ride. He did great even after jumping into the lake!  But isn't that what labs do?  He is a joy.

Bentley from Alabama

We were approved to foster in September 2011 & received 54 lb "Dustin" from an Alabama shelter later that month. We re-named him Bentley, after the governor of Alabama (Robert Bentley). A few weeks later a coworker came to meet Bentley. He wanted to adopt a Lab for his son. The minute he left we broke down & agreed there was no way we could let OUR Bentley go.

We were foster failures.

But we can't imagine life without Bentley. He immediately got obedience training & settled into a routine with us. He is full of energy & goes to the dog park or on a jog with us every day. He has never met a stranger, he sometimes thinks he is a lap dog, & he now weighs almost 80 lbs! He's such a smart boy, never misses a beat, & gets compliments on how good looking he is everywhere he goes. He likes to be the center of attention!

We know Bentley would have gone to a great home, but we are so happy to have him in our home. Thank you Love of Labs!

Our New Baby

Buddy is loving life and is very well behaved. After a week I can barely move my shoulder from playing so much ball with him. He goes so often and for so long that I really don't know what I would have done with a puppy. This guy is 6 years old! And he loves the pond outback. He hasn't even discovered the other 8 ponds on the place yet. Gracie, who doesn't like any other dogs, has become his little pal. They trade food bowls and beds but he sets boundaries on his ball. He's serious about that.

He loves it here on the farm. And we love him. And Gracie almost loves him, lol.

Thanks for our new baby....

Definitely being loved!

Just wanted to let you know that Grover had two amazing days!  He was busy helping me plant flowers yesterday and we have found he absolutely loves being out side every chance he has.  We had so much fun watching him play with his new toys.  I love the way he throws things up and catches them. The moose was his favorite and he already has half of him chewed up. He scarfed his food down yesterday and this morning but tonight seemed to actually take a breath between gobbles. We have found out how much he likes to have his tummy rubbed! Yesterday he was on the go all day and slept good in his kennel throughout the night and no accidents in the house.  He has been adjusting to his leash during walks and I am sure he will have the hang of it in no time.  He is very curious along the way with all the newness.  Thanks again for fostering him, without you guys we wouldn't have the joy of having him.  He is definitely being loved!

Happy Tail- Zoey

Our adoption story began in April of last year. We had lost our 13yr old Black Lab Abbyclaire to cancer in Jan. I had been researching Lab Rescues in our area, and came across Lolin's website. I read a story about a beautiful Yellow Lab named Indee, who was found pregnant, and wondering in a neighborhood in Avon. The family who found her took her to their Vet, where she had a beautiful litter of puppies. Sharon and Jeff met a volunteer while at the Vet who asked if they would be interested in fostering Indee and her puppies, until they were ready to be adopted. Sharon and Jeff said yes, and fostered Indee, and her puppies for 8 weeks. I think they had to replace their kitchen baseboards! Such a nice couple!

We where approved to adopt, and set up a appointment to travel to Indiana to see the puppies. My husband and I picked out a yellow female, her name was Daisy Mae. A sign she was meant to be ours, I had had a Basset Hound named Daisy Mae for 16 years! We renamed her Zoey, and had to wait a few more weeks to get her after she was spayed.

Zoey will be a 1 year old on May 11th. She is a 66 pound lovebug, who thinks she is a lap dog like her 3 fur siblings, LuLu, Auggie, and Oscar. She has been to obeidence school, and passed. She loves playing ball with Oscar, they can play for hours, before getting tuckered out! She also loves playing with our son Christopher, going on walks, and car rides. She still loves to chew holes in socks, blankets, and dog beds, and if there is a newspaper laying around she will shred it to pieces in a matter of seconds!

Since adopting Zoey, my husband and I have started to help with transporting for different Rescues. So far we have helped four Labs on their journey to their new homes. We hope to help Lolin when a transport is needed through Central Illinois. Thank you to all the Lolin volunteers for all your hard work, and dedication! We love Zoey!

God Bless,
Jennifer, Charles, Christopher, LuLu, Auggie, Oscar, and Zoey

Maverick is AWESOME!

We adopted Maverick near the end of January. He has done amazing things in the past 2 months. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to adopt Maverick. After we lost our Lady in October of 2010, we never thought we could have a dog which would fill our hearts so much…then along came Maverick. He is a great joy to have around the house. Now that the weather is improving, he loves to be outside. We have gone to the dog park several times. We have spent quite a bit of time on walks, learning how to act on a leash. He has been a wonderful addition to our family, though our cats are still thinking otherwise.
Again, thank your Love of Labs for the opportunity to adopt Maverick. He is wonderful! We are very excited for him to graduate from his obedience class Monday night! He is such a good boy!

Sincerely,

Chad and Natalie Franks

Lucy

I adopted Lucy Sept/Oct 2011, after being through a ton. She apparently was traveling around Indy on her own, we don't know for how long, before ending up in a shelter where she was scheduled to be put down until LOLIN saved her and she landed in a foster home with Sherry who did an incredible job with her. Bringing her back from a case of mange. I was fortunate enough to have met her thru LOLIN and we immediately fell in love with each other. The transition to her forever home was filled with adventure as Lucy is one crazy lady. She had fun destroying many items within our house but always did it with a smile and plenty of kisses. Lucy has started to calm down but still wakes me up prior to the daily alarm, there is no snooze with Lucy.
She offers headbutts when she doesn't feel she's getting enough attention. She also has a unique ability to make sounds similar to Chubaca from Star Wars. It's rather amusing. Lucy is the first Lab I've had who is truly a lap dog. Nothing like 60 lbs of love on top of you.
We've already been through a lot of fun together and I know Lucy is happy in her forever home!! She frustrates me regularly but I wouldn't trade her for the world. Lucy is the love of my life and we will be together for as long as she will have me. Some have dogs where you're in charge and they are part of your life. With Lucy she's in charge and I'm part of her life. But with Lucy I wouldn't have it any other way. Well occasionally when I want to sleep in. I love you my Lucy and thank Sherry, caring for my little lady until she could come home. It would have been nice if you had warned me how crazy she is...ha ha

Cash: Just a little spoiled!

We adopted Cash in July of 2011 and he has been such a great addition to our little family! He is super playful and loves our daily runs as well as doggy daycare where he can have a chance to play and socialize with other dogs. He is a little snuggler and incredibly sweet which we absolutely love. He is getting MUCH better at fetch and we are working on getting him to drop the ball when he brings it back, which he will only do when we give him a treat! Special thanks to Foster parents Linda and Tammy for taking such good care of him and always being there for questions or encouragement! Thanks LOLIN, and we couldn't be happier! We think Cash feels the same way too : )

GEORGIE ROCKS!

After

Before

Georgie continues to do a most awesome job in training his people. Georgie chose us to be his family in May 2010 and we are now complete. The after and the before photographs below tells it all. Please fosters know that you are fairy godparents to those of us who benefit from your love and care! Thank you Foster Godmother Linda Acup who saved Georgie! Georgie still has not gotten that the memo that he is missing his right back leg - yup a tripod who is an experienced athlete and hurdles fences. Georgie is indeed senior but he prefers experienced! Gotta love LOLIN! Melissa, Sean and Georgie
